Voice Coaching
On Building the Embodied Voice
Becoming a parent challenged me in many ways, and none more so than finding my voice again. I had to figure out whether it was hormones, body changes, brain changes, psychological blocks that were limiting my singing. The truth is that it was all of these things and stripping everything down to the core to build it back up again hasgiven me a much different view of singing as well as teaching voice. The voice is a microcosm of YOU and without all of you present, it can only do so much. My voice coaching goes much deeper and wider than traditional voice lessons to account for this -- the whole human as instrument.
It's not an accident that breathing is the through line of my work. One of the biggest challenges that most singers face is learning how to manage their breath for singing. This becomes especially apparent for singers who've gone through big physical changes -- pregnancy, menopause, illness, injury, trauma and even weightless can all impact how our respiratory system functions. I focus on helping singers who are navigating these physical/life/vocal changes re-establish a balanced and responsive system for truly sustainable singing.
How often have you had an amazing lesson or coaching only to go out onstage and completely blank or crash and burn in an audition? Your approach to singing must be able to serve you when you need it more. A majority of my work is focused on helping singers understand the "why" behind their habits allows you to root out any beliefs or ideas that might sneak up in high-pressure situations like performing or auditioning. The result is easy, sustainable and unshakable singing.
I offer private voice coaching sessions both in-person in San Francisco or online. New clients begin with a 6-session intro package spread out over 2 months to allow you time to master and integrate the lessons learned.
Workshops & Courses
In addition to my private coaching, I offer workshops and courses designed specifically for singers. Existing singer-focused programs are listed below, but all of my offerings are appropriate for singers. I also offer custom-tailored workshops to local choirs and singing groups -- please reach out to discuss more options.
