Soprano Madison Smith receives consistent praise for her fresh, golden-voiced interpretations of bel canto repertoire. Notable roles include Nanetta (Falstaff), Marie (Fille du Regiment), Héro (Béatrice et Bénédict), Ascagne (Les Troyens) and Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte). Outside of her opera credits, she has extensive performance experience in both traditional concert repertoire and new music. She made her Davies Symphony Hall debut in Händel’s Messiah and went on to perform Carmina Burana with Grammy Award winning conductor, Vance George. She spent two seasons with the highly esteemed new music ensemble, Volti, and can be heard as a soloist on their album House of Voices. She has collaborated on World Premiers with several composers in the San Francisco area including David Conte, Allen Shearer and participants of the John Adams Young Composers Consortium.
She has won awards from the Pacific Musical Society, the San Francisco Chapter of NATS, the national NATSAA and the Henry and Maria Holt Scholarship Competition. She has also worked with many of the top artists in the classical music industry including Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Barbara Bonney, Kent Nagano, Dawn Upshaw, Karl Paulnack and Kathleen Kelly. She participated in the CoOPERAtive Program as a Fellow and at OperaWorks as an Advanced Artist. She holds a Masters Degree in Voice from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Bachelors Degree in Voice from The Boston Conservatory.

Working outside of music, she spent several years doing marketing, business development, and knowledge management in the architecture and engineering industries. Working with companies around the globe ranging from 25 to 5,000+ employees and earned a reputation specializing in strategies for gathering and maintaining business intelligence data.

Her current focus lies in helping mothers with the transition into parenthood with a special focus for singers.
